Barry Payne is a founding partner of Shepherd Payne Associates. Barry has a PhD in Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his scientific background enables him to bridge the technical and scientific aspects of the work to the business side. He has over 25 years experience in the areas of transformational change, organizational and business process design, product/technology development, supply chain strategy/operations,  life-cycle management, innovation management and Design for Six Sigma/Quality by Design. He has led projects at Merck, Schering Plough, Biogen, GlaxoSmithKline, Kimberly Clark, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Sunovion.

Susan A. Shepherd 
Partner

Susan Shepherd is a founding partner of Shepherd Payne Associates.  With a degree and postgraduate work in science writing and the history of science, she has edited a neurology journal at Harvard University Medical School, and has written articles about science for the Boston Globe. For over 15 years, she has reported on science, the environment, international issues, and business for a variety of National Public Radio shows and for Marketplace Business Report.  She has also been executive producer of several startup shows airing on public radio.  Susan oversees hiring, HR, and business development and strategy for Shepherd Payne Associates.
